Post Caps

To install your Deckorators® post caps, we recommend using an exterior-grade construction adhesive to adhere the cap to the post. Apply the adhesive liberally to the inside of the cap, and then place the cap firmly over the top of the post.

Solar Post Caps

To activate your new solar post cap:

  1. Remove top by pressing inward on the side of the clear lens, grasping the edge of the top and lifting it off.
  2. Install the batteries.
  3. Replace top by snapping onto side panels. (Ensure the holes in the sides are matched up with the stubs on the top.)
  4. Place your solar post cap in direct sunlight for 24-48 hours to fully charge. Your solar post cap light is now ready to be installed onto your post.

To attach your post cap to the post, apply exterior-grade construction adhesive to the underside of the post cap before placing the cap firmly on the post.


Solar Tiffany-style Post Caps

To activate your new Solar Tiffany-style Post Cap:

  1. Remove the solar panel by lifting it straight up from the top of the cap.
  2. Remove the plastic tab from the battery compartment to allow connection to the terminal.
  3. Ensure that the batteries are securely in place.
  4. Replace the solar panel.
  5. Your Solar Tiffany-style Post Cap is now ready to be installed on your post.
  6. Your Solar Tiffany-style Post Cap will need 24 to 48 hours of sunlight to fully charge.

Note: The amount of direct sunlight received by the solar panel determines the length of time the light will remain lit after dark.

To activate solar post cap:

  1. Unscrew top and remove from the glass portion of the cap.
  2. Install rechargeable batteries.
  3. Replace top and fasten screws.
  4. Place your solar cap in direct sunlight for 24 to 48 hours to fully charge.
  5. The cap is ready to be installed on the post.

Solarband Post Caps

To activate solar post cap:

  1. Remove top by grasping the edges of the top and lifting straight up.
  2. Install rechargable batteries.
  3. Replace top by snapping onto the banded lens.
  4. Ensure the U-shaped slots in the sides of the banded lens are matched up with the stubs on the top.
  5. Place your solar post cap in direct sunlight for 24 to 48 hours to fully charge.
  6. Your solar post cap is now ready to be installed onto your post.

Convertible Post Cap Lights

To assemble your new Convertible Post Cap Light:

  1. Secure the post cap light base to the post by applying an exterior-grade construction adhesive to the underside of the base and placing the base firmly on the post.
  2. Attach the post cap light by pushing downward onto the base until the components are flush.
  3. Place the solar panel onto the top of the post cap light and push downward.

Optional lighting method: Remove post cap light from base and place a tea candle onto base. Be sure to remove the solar panel for proper ventilation if using a tea candle. See Figure 1.

Note: The solar panel will need 24 to 48 hours of sunlight to fully charge. The amount of direct sunlight received by the solar panel determines the length of time the light will remain lit after dark.

The post cap light may also be lit by a tea light candle. The solar panel must be removed when burning a tea light candle.

Designer Metal Solar Post Caps

To activate the post cap:

  1. Turn the solar housing counterclockwise to remove it from the top of the cap.
  2. Open battery compartment and insert the battery.
  3. Ensure the battery is firmly in place and close the battery compartment.
  4. With a clockwise turn, attach the solar housing assembly to the low portion of the cap.
  5. You solar post cap light will need a full day of sunlight to fully charge.

To attach to the post, apply an exterior-grade construction adhesive to the underside of the cap and place firmly on the post.

Post and Stair Lights

  1. Slide plastic lens back to separate from copper top.
  2. Open battery compartment.
  3. Remove plastic tab between battery and terminal.
  4. Ensure battery is firmly in place.
  5. Attach bracket to post using screws included in package.
  6. Slide the Post and Stair Light onto the bracket.

Light will need 24 hours of direct sunlight to fully charge.
