Decorate Your Deck for the Holidays

Before you deck the halls this holiday season, consider something different: Why not deck your deck instead? Even when the temperatures drop, your deck can be a great spot for holiday entertainment and decoration. Here’s how:
1. Light it up. You can wrap exterior string lights around rails, balusters or both. But if that sounds like a lot of work, try permanent deck lighting, such as lighted post caps and balusters by Deckorators®. In addition to looking great, recessed lighting is always a good safety addition.
2. Add a safe heat source. There’s nothing like crisp, cool air, but when it gets really cold, a fire pit or chimney provides both heat and light. Use deck stones for a flooring surface that’s easy to clean , durable and provides a measure of safety, as well.
3. Make Martha Stewart proud. We don’t claim to be expert designers, but here’s a simple decorative tip that help any deck: Use Deckorators planter post caps to top off posts with your favorite fall flowers or winter evergreens.
4. Extend the party outside. There’s a reason the parties in many classic Hollywood flicks seem to spill out on a patio or deck for that climactic scene – it’s the scenery. (The moon, the stars… you know.) Don’t confine your parties to the indoors. By incorporating some of the previous suggestions, you can use the deck as an extension of your entertainment space, even if it’s just a place to escape the in-laws. In warmer climes, the deck can be a great place to host Halloween parties, family gatherings and other celebrations.
