We are only three months from the New Year and those in the outdoor products industry are about to reveal the next big trends for 2019. We are predicting which colors, materials and technologies will push this year’s boundaries.
According to PANTONE VIEW Home + Interiors Guide for 2019, colors ranging from “rich Cappuccino and Chocolate to spicy Chili Pepper and Cayenne” will make an appearance in 2019. Why not add these luxurious colors to your outdoor living space?
You can expect deck board color choices to take a bold approach. Look for Red Canyon depth to earthy shades of clays, caramels, browns and mushroom tones. Deck boards with textured embossing and bold variegations are sure to provide a tasteful contrast of colors.

Installing a border or “picture framing” is not a new trend in decking for 2019. Overall, it’s an aesthetically appealing design that takes a deck to the next level. Plus, it is a practical way to conceal the ends of deck boards for a clean finish.
Contrasting yet complementing decking colors will be a fashion-forward style. Using a dark color for the contrasting “picture frame” will make the overall deck stand out from the norm.

Not Just For Backyards
Decks in nontraditional spaces are starting to show up in more commercial settings like rooftop bars. We will see that trend continue to flow into residential spaces for 2019.
Homeowners want the benefit of an outdoor oasis even if they live in an urban area with minimal space or do not have a traditional backyard. Innovative deck understructure systems are the driving force behind the growth of this trend.
