Two outdoor living spaces built by Certified Elite Pro Sean Collinsgru of Premier Outdoor Living earned top honors in the Outdoor Living category
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Sept. 11, 2026 - Deckorators®, the fastest-growing composite decking brand, announced today that two projects built with its decking and railing products won awards in Qualified Remodeler magazine’s 48th annual Master Design Awards. “Year of the Front Yard,” a front yard renovation in Tabernacle, New Jersey, won Gold in the Outdoor Living under $200,000 category. “Glass House,” a backyard renovation in Sewell, New Jersey, won Silver in the same category. Both projects were built by Sean Collinsgru, owner of Premier Outdoor Living and a Deckorators Certified Elite Pro.
“These two projects show what we mean when we talk about redefining outdoor living,” said Michelle Hendricks, Deckorators director of marketing. “Sean and his team took two very different spaces and turned them into places people actually want to spend time in. Seeing that work recognized means a lot to us.”
Year of the Front Yard was built at Collinsgru’s own home in Tabernacle. The 550-square-foot project was completed in about two months, worked in between other active jobs. It uses Deckorators Voyage decking featuring Surestone® technology in Costa and Khaya, and Deckorators Privacy Screen System in Wildwood. It also ties directly to Deckorators’ 2026 Year of the Front Yard initiative, which encourages homeowners to bring the same design attention to the front of the house that they’ve long given the back.
“My own front yard had been on my list since I moved in, and once Deckorators declared 2026 the Year of the Front Yard, it felt like the right time to finally build it,” said Collinsgru. “We designed it in zones so it could handle everything from morning coffee to evening entertaining, and the Voyage decking gave it a clean, modern feel.”
Glass House grew an existing backyard deck in Sewell from 400 to 713 square feet. The project is anchored by ProWood® TrueFrame™ Joist framing, paired with Deckorators Voyage decking in Costa, Khaya, and Dark Slate along with Deckorators Contemporary Cable Rail. Construction ran from November 2025 to March 2026, including a stretch of several weeks when snow and ice made the job site unsafe to access.
“Glass House tested our patience more than any project this year, since we lost nearly a month to snow and ice,” said Collinsgru. “The TrueFrame Joist framing and Voyage decking both held their shape through the delay, and once we were back on-site, we picked up right where we left off.”
The Master Design Awards is one of the remodeling industry’s longest-running design competitions, recognizing projects across more than 20 categories for craftsmanship, innovation, and overall design excellence.
